Our new servers have been running for three weeks without hiccup. This has been a huge project for our team led by Steve Shenton
We now have 5 racks of servers located in Blue Square, an established data centre in Maidenhead and connected to the internet via a huge "pipe" supplied by CFL. Click here to visit the Blue Square site and here for CFL. There is no "single point of failure" - every key component is duplicated. 4 racks are in constant use, one is kept in reserve. This equipment will power 6000 users - We've got half that number of users at present.
Our old servers at JPCI in Wiltshire now form our principal backup. We have three racks of equipment located there - ready to step in should the need arise.
Finally, we have a single rack of servers in an air-conditioned, sound proofed cupboard in our office. It's presence has tripled the office electricity bill!
We have full remote control capability over the servers from anywhere - even to the point of being able to reboot a particular server if it fails to respond.
New Marketing Tools every month this year
Despite an encouraging start our agent customers are convinced that this year will be hard work! We are therefore focusing our Expert Agent product development on creating marketing tools that will deliver real results.
We intend to release one significant new feature every month.
January's big innovation is Weekly Applicant Email Bulletin.
If you switch this on, every applicant gets an email from you every Wednesday night containing your latest message - "good movement in the middle range", "great mortgage offers" etc - plus a link to a personalised selection of properties.
These are subdivided into New Instructions, Price Changes and General Stock. Applicants also get an option to change their requirements or unsubscribe. All changes are made "live" and the negotiator in question gets a suitable warning.
Early trials suggest this generates a steady flow of calls every Thursday.
We'll have another good revenue generating innovation for you next month.
